DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
A few years ago, an incident in Happy Valley led to one of the biggest scandals to ever rock the Hong Kong Police Department. A cache of photographs was descovered in the home of a wealthy playboy. What distinguished these thousands of photos was that they all featured handsome and muscular young men in police uniforms, some of them half-nude. an investigation by the Police Department revealed that some of the men were indeed members of the Force, others were models and gigolos. This incident was the inspiration for Bishonen, a story about a unique relationship between a policeman, a pop star, and two gigolos.

In Hong Kong's secret sexual life, there are broken hearts, unpaid bills, sleepless nights, and very little beauty. Director Manshih Yonfan has created a strikingly handsome and haunting film in which the text and the cinematography are infused with a luminous light, thus creating a lovely aura in every minute aspect of this movie. The story centers on a blooming love affair between melancholy gigolo Jet and irresistible Sam who lets his past threaten o only his love for Jet, but his personal identity as well. If you combine gorgeous settings and chiseled features with a tumultuous love triangle, you would have no only a slice of gay Hong Kong, but also a truly beautiful film where nothing is as desperate as it seems and everything is redeemably beautiful.
